Abstract
We present a case report of 55 yrs female patient with recurrent adenoid cystic carcinoma orbit which presented as abaxial proptosis. Initial lateral Orbitotomy with biopsy was performed under general anesthesia and the histopathology confirmed as adenoid cystic carcinoma of left lacrimal gland without perineural invasion showing extracapsular infiltration. The patient underwent radiotherapy to orbit . The mass was noted to recur in superior orbit again after 2 years postoperative period. Repeat orbitotomy and mass excision with periosteum was performed. The histopathology confirmed as recurrent adenoid cystic carcinoma with perineural invasion. There was post operative dry eye with visual acuity 6/12,N8 and managed medically with lubricants. She has been informed about the need of exenteration on recurrence. The case shows the recurrence of mass in varied position due to extracapsular extension and also the ability to salvage the eye by doing repeat orbitotomy.
