Abstract
PURPOSE: To report a case of isolated cavernous hemangioma of conjunctiva in a 11-year-old boy.
METHODS: Patient had a history of reddish fleshy growth in the white part of his left eye for the past 4 years, which on examination revealed a raised, reddish violet, lobulated mass of 7x10x2mm in the temporal bulbar conjunctiva of left eye with minimal bleeding seen from the lesion. Contrast CT orbit showed a small soft tissue density in the left anterolateral aspect of the eyeball with intact orbital walls. Color doppler of the lesion showed an ill-defined hyperechoic soft tissue mass of 9.6×5.5mm with vascularity in the preseptal space showing venous monophasic waveforms.
RESULTS: Histopathological analysis of the excised specimen confirmed the clinical diagnosis of conjunctival cavernous hemangioma, a rare vascular lesion of all conjunctival tumors.
CONCLUSION: Though cavernous hemangioma of orbit is a common tumor, isolated cavernous hemangioma of conjunctiva has rarely been reported.
