Abstract
Purpose: To investigate the visual outcome and globe survival after treatment in patients with Rhino-Orbital Cerebral Mucormycosis. Method: Interventional and prospective study done on 28 patients diagnosed with ROCM. There were 20 male and 8 female patients whose age was 24 to 85 years(Mean±SD=54.64±15.49). Medical management with TRAM-B and debridement of nasal mucosa and paranasal sinuses done by ENT surgeon. The people enrolled in this study were examined at 1st ,2nd and 3rd month. Observe the visual outcome and globe survival. Results: After treatment improvement of visual outcome in 4 patients 14.28% average 2 lines of improvement by Snellen chart, but significantly halt the requirement of exenteration operation. Three patients out of 28 diagnosed case of ROCM underwent exenteration operation.Globe survival was 89.28%. Conclusion: Early diagnosis and treatment with TRAM and debridement of nasal mucosa and paranasal sinuses is beneficial for globe survival of the ROCM patients.
