Abstract
21 yrs old male patient presented with protusion of right eye since 8 years associated with pain, redness and watering in right eye since 10 days . Proptosis – non pulsatile, insidious in onset, gradually progressive and painless. on O/E had eyelid oedema ,conjunctival congestion and corneal exposure keratopathy and 34 mm axial proptosis associated with restriction of extraocular movements of eyeball in all direction, with decreased UAVA 4/60 PH NI and RAPD grade 3 in RE. CBC, TFT was normal. S/E was within normal limit. USG neck, abdomen and pelvis was normal. CT SCAN showed lesion of 6.2 by 3.3 cm involving all recti muscles and optic nerve. VEP showed slightly prolonged P100 latency in RE with reduced P100 amplitude. Excision biopsy sections confirmed the diagnosis . Positive family history among 18 year old brother and father who had unilateral involvement.Conclusion: RDS of the orbit, although a rare, disease should be considered in a young patients with chronic proptosis
