Abstract
Microspherophakia is a rare condition of the crystalline lens characterized by reduced equatorial diameter and increased anteroposterior diameter. Although it is classically associated with Weill-Marchesani Syndrome it may have other associations. We present a case in a 13 yrs old female child who presented with gradual painless diminution of vision in both eyes for 8yrs. Ophthalmic Examination revealed bilateral microspherophakia with large inferior clear lens subluxation in both eyes with a posterior tilt in the left eye. Uncorrected Visual acuity in both eyes was 3/60 PR accurate. The objective refraction being -14DS/-2.0 DC@170 in the right eye -13DS/-2.0DC@170 in the left eye Best Corrected Visual Acuity being 6/12(p) in both eyes. IOP with applanation tonometer was 12mm in both eyes. No systemic association was found. The child was managed by Pars Plana Vitrectomy with clear lens extraction and Scleral Fixated Intraocular Lens implantation left eye followed by right eye.
