Abstract
Lenticonus is a conical protrusion of the central lens surface caused by the thinning of affected lens capsule, leading to progressive lenticular myopia. Anterior Lenticonus (AL) may result in spontaneous anterior lens capsule (ALC) rupture leading to cataract formation but is rare. Here we report two brothers with bilateral AL with unilateral ALC rupture. Both were worked up for Alport syndrome. Though renal parameters were normal, audiogram showed early signs of neurosensory deafness. Vision improved with surgery. These cases highlights the ophthalmologists role in early diagnosis of Alports that could help in slowing the morbidity caused by renal involvement.
