Abstract
Observational study done at tertiary care hospital on 43 eye of 36 patients. diagnosed with episcleritis and scleritis had underwent eye examination and systemic review. Age, gender, laterality, degree of complication noted , treatment given at first visit and follow-up done.
Results. out of 36 cases 28 had scleritis and 8 had episcleritis- female preponderance in episcleritis and scleritis with 57.5% and 75 % respectively. Bilateral diseases was found in 7(25%) cases . No. of nodular and diffuse scleritis as 16(45%) and 15(42%) and 4(11%) cases of necrotising type (P-0.098).
Systemic association was found in 36% in which mc association was RH(30%) , granulomatosis polyangitis (20%), i Other associated diseases found were JIA, ankylosing spondylitis
Conclusion
Wegener granulomatosis patients with scleritis have more ocular complication
These patients with positive for ANCA are more likely to have severe ocular disease and , thereby requiring more aggressive therapy
