Abstract
We report a case of Acute Retinal Necrosis (ARN) in a patient of Geographic Helicoid Peripapillary choroidopathy(GHPC) in same eye. This association may represent a common viral etiologic agent for both the diseases which was confirmed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) of vitreous sample. As the patient was treated with systemic antivirals and systemic steroids, posterior segment inflammation and retinitis lesions resolved. This report highlights the importance of Aqueous or vitreous biopsy for diagnosis of etiologic agent and thereby proper treatment of the disease
Keyword: Acute retinal necrosis, GHPC, Vitreous biopsy, polymerase chain reaction
Key Message: Vitreous biopsy in a case of retinitis can confirm the etiologic agent
