Abstract

Aim:The treatment hurdles in treating a pregnant female with tubercular serpinginoid choroiditis. Material and Methods:A 27-year-old 6-month pregnant female, presented with bilateral acute diminution of vision after waking up since 2 days. Visual acuity in the right eye 6/9 while in the left was finger counting close to face. Fundus showed ill-defined yellowish patches at the posterior pole and around the disc. OCT confirmed lesion at the level of choroid. Montoux test (18 mm) was positive. A diagnosis of both eye tubercular serpinginoid choroiditis was made. The patient was started on ATT and subsequently, oral steroid therapy was initiated. Result:The patient was better at two months. Conclusion: A combination of systemic corticosteroids and ATT effectively controls inflammation and preserves visual acuity in serpiginoid choroiditis. However, in pregnant females, various drugs need to be administered with caution. Thus, a multidisciplinary approach for such cases is essential.
