Abstract
A 19 year old boy presented with gradual diminution of vision both eyes since last 5 years.
History of ?retinal tear and subsequent laser was done and subsequently diagnosed as cystoid macular edema elsewhere.
On examination best corrected visual acuity was 6/24 both eyes , IOP was well within normal limits and no other significant findings in anterior segment examination .
On fundus examination he had dull foveal reflex both eyes and laser photocoagulation marks surrounding a large inner retinal layer hole seen in inferior quadrant both eyes.
On Oct – both eyes predominant cystic spaces alongwith doubtful retinoschisis so to rule out we did fundus fluorescein angiography with showed no leakage or staining confirming the absense of inflammatory component.
X linked retinoschisis can mimic cystoid macular edema leading to difficulty in diagnosis and proper management.
