Abstract

Aim- To assess the anatomical success of Pars Plana Vitrectomy(PPV) and combined Pars Plana Vitrectomy with scleral buckle band(PPV/SBB) for repair of Primary Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachment(RRD)

Methods- It is a nonrandomized, observational study. 17 eyes which underwent primary RRD repair using SBB with PPV(n=9) or PPV alone(n=8) were followed up for a period of minimum 6 months and their single surgical anatomic success was recorded.

Result- The Single Surgical Anatomic Success (SSAS) and final anatomical success in patients undergone PPV and PPV/SB showed no significant difference.

Conclusion- PPV and PPV/SB seem to have similar efficacy in treatment of primary Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachment.
