Abstract
•Purpose-Evaluate vision after DALK & correlate with densitometry.
•Method-Interventional study was conducted in patients with corneal diseases affecting stroma, undergoing DALK.25 eyes of patients who underwent DALK were followed for 6 months postoperatively & BSCVA & densitometry were evaluated.
•Results-Preoperative BSCVA ranged from 0.84 to 2 logMAR units, mean of 1.35 ± 0.46 logMAR units.Improvement(p<0.001) was seen postoperatively at 6 months with BCVA ranging from 0 to 0.84 logMAR units, mean of 0.36 ± 0.19 logMAR units.Mean residual stromal bed thickness was 32.7±12.7µm.Mean densitometry from anterior cornea in 0-2mm zone was 25.8±7.7GSU.Correlation coefficient of BSCVA with residual stromal bed thickness was 0.6(p<0.004),with anterior densitometry in 0-2mm zone was 0.38(p<0.05). •Conclusion-DALK is effective alternative to Penetrating Keratoplasty with postoperative BSCVA directly correlating with residual stromal bed thickness & inversely correlating with corneal densitometry.
