Abstract
Aim – To evaluate the effect of Rhokinase inhibitor drops on clinical, diagnostic& molecular profile of Fuch’s endothelial dystrophy(FECD)
Methods – 20 eyes of FECD were included. Patients diagnosed based on guttae &other corneal changes on slit lamp and specular microscopy. Visual acuity, in vivo confocal microscopy(IVCM), pachymetry& tear molecular factors were analysed and followed up for 1 year.
Results- 16 eyes were grade 1-2, 4 eyes had grade 3-4 Fuch’s dystrophy. Average Specular endothelial cell densityECD -1624 , mean pachymetry- 548 microns and corneal IVCM changes noted. No significant change in ECD but IVCM showed alteration in corneal features. 14 eyes were stable over 1 year. 2 eyes underwent endothelial keratoplasty. Tear molecular profile demonstrates changes post treatment in profile of FECD patients.
Conclusion- Rhokinase inhibitors have been used in the treatment of Fuchs’. Linking IVCM & tear molecular factors to disease may add a new dimension of understanding.
