Abstract
Purpose: To evaluate the safety, efficacy and complication rates of suture GATT combined with cataract surgery and intraocular lens implantation, at 1 year follow up
Methods: A retrospective review of patients’ medical records was performed for all patients who underwent suture GATT with IOL implantation between 1st December 2018 to 31st January 2020, by a single surgeon, using 5-0 Prolene suture. Visual acuity, intraocular pressure and number of active ingredients in anti glaucoma medications were analysed at baseline and at 1 year follow up.
Results:27 eyes of 26 patients were analysed. The mean age of participants was 62.4 ± 7.9 years. The mean preop IOP was 24.7 (±9.21) mmHg which reduced to 6.18 (±7.4) mmHg (P <0.0001). Mean visual acuity improved from1.19 (±0.61) to 0.45 (±0.73) [P 0.0001]. Number of active ingredients in anti-glaucoma medications reduced from 1.29 (0.66) to0.35 (0.84) [P 0.0010]. Conclusion: Suture GATT with cataract surgery is a safe and effective technique.
