Abstract
PURPOSE: To evaluate early outcomes of a modified needle guided ab-interno sulcus placement of AADI tube.
Methodology: Retrospective study with 6 months follow-up. Early outcomes included visual acuity, control of IOP, number of AGM & surgical complications.
Results: After securing AADI plate to sclera, 21 G needle was inserted through opposite limbus into AC & directed to sulcus finally exiting eye through bed of scleral flap.Tube was inserted into lumen of needle and guided into ciliary sulcus by withdrawing needle. Fourteen eyes of 14 patients were included in study.IOP was reduced from pre-operative mean(SD) of 33.57(10.5)mmHg to 10.21(4.0)mmHg at 6 months(p< 0.001). Mean(SD) number of preoperative AGM was reduced from 2.93(0.6) to 0.43(0.8) medications (p=0.001).No intraoperative complications were noted. Conclusion:The modified techniɋue of AADI tube implantation in sulcus was found to be simple, safe & effective alternative to existing methods of sulcus placement of tube shunt.
