Abstract
Aim: To study Bacillary layer detachment (BLD) on SD-OCT in posterior uveitis.
Methods: It is a retrospective and observational study in posterior uveitis patients seen between 2011-2021.
Results: BLD is splitting of ellipsoid layer observed on spectral domain OCT. A total of 67 patients with VKH, 40 patients with Serpiginous like choroidopathy (SLC), 13 patients with sympathetic ophthalmia and 2 patients with UAIM were included. BLD was found in 10 VKH patients, 4 SLC ,4 sympathetic ophthalmia patients and 2 patients of UAIM. With appropriate treatment resolution of bacillary layer detachment was noted.
Conclusion: Bacillary layer detachment is a novel OCT feature seen in patients with posterior uveitis. To the best of our knowledge we are reporting BLD for the first time in patients with sympathetic ophthalmia.
