Abstract
Material and methods: A 62 year old female presented with gradual, painless diminution of vision in the right eye 10 years after uneventful cataract surgery. On examination, BCVA was 6/60 OD, opacification of foldable intraocular lens (IOL) was seen with no signs of active or past inflammation. Posterior segment was unremarkable. Specular Count WNL.Left eye BCVA 6/9 with an ACIOL and a posterior capsular breach. Patient was posted for lens exchange via Superior corneoscleral tunnel. Anterior capsule was stained with trypan blue. IOL was prolapsed into the AC using viscoelastic and explanted by sectioning into two. Preexisting PCR was noted. Limited anterior vitrectomy was done with tricot staining and new IOL implanted
Result: BCVA next day was 6/12 improving to 6/9 within a week
Conclusion: Lens exchange is a safe and effective procedure to restore vision in cases with opacified IOL
