This video will demonstrate modified techniques to repair iris.It will show a “single-pass four-throw pupilloplasty technique” in which a single pass of a 9-0 prolene suture on a long arm needle is passed through the iris tissue followed by creation of a loop with four throws around it that slides inside the eye. This creates a helical configuration that prevents the suture from opening up thereby creating a relatively round pupil. For iridodialysis repair,”Hangback technique” is employed whereby a double armed 9-0 prolene sutures are used to bring the peripheral iris under the limbus. In another technique of Iridodialysis repair “Modified sewing machine technique” is used in which scleral tunnel is made parallel to the damaged portions of the iris and 9-0 prolene suture threaded in a 26-gauge needle is passed through the peripheral iris to create suture loops. The needle is then passed through the loops and tied. These techniques provide excellent functional and cosmetic results.
