This video depicts how the Mitomycin C soaked sponges are used to reduce the scarring process post Trabeculectomy surgeries and helps in controlled drainage of aqueous through the subconjunctival space in Glaucoma Patients. With this Augmented Trabeculectomy technique comes disadvantages like the risk of a lost sponge situation, which might lead to many Mitomycin C related side effects like Foreign Body granuloma, Scleritis, Cataract, Corneal erosions etc. which may ultimately lead to Bleb leak and failure. To minimize or eliminate this problem, many techniques have come up which are summarized in this video. This video doesn’t have any financial interest. It promotes a new approach towards Mitomycin C usage in Trabeculectomy surgeries.
