Abstract
AIM- To investigate the clinical changes of cosmetic product on ocular surface, ocular hygiene and tear film function.
METHODS- Hospital based prospective study was done in 63 patients having complain of ocular discomfort, attending tertiary care center between august 2020 to September 2021.
RESULT- Study included 63 patients, 45 were in the age group 16-35 years and rest 18 were in the age group 36-45 years. Cosmetic products hampered ocular hygiene which led to allergic conjunctivitis in 18 patients, meibomitis in 12, blepharitis in 35, and dry eye in 53 patients, which are overlapping in nature.
CONCLUSION-Cosmetic wearers should be made aware of the long-term effects of application of products and advised to lessen application to minimize the side effects. Our study provides clinical, pathological base and understanding the side effect of cosmetic product on ocular surface, periocular skin and abnormality of tear film function and its treatment on eye cosmetic wearers.
