Abstract
Purpose: To study the tear parameters in older dry eye patients Pre and Post Intensed Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy.
Methods:
A prospective study where older dry eye patients aged between 40-80 years was included. All patients were given the IPL therapy as per manufacturer protocol (E-EYE). Parameters such as noninvasive break up time (NIBUT), lipid layer interferometry (LLI), and meibomian gland (MG) loss were measured using Ocular Surface Analyzer (OSA) pre and post 1 session of IPL Therapy.
Results:
Total of 20 eyes of 10 dry eye patients mean±SD aged 59.86±7.81 years were included. 17 out of 20 eyes had showed improvement in LLI grades. Paired T test revealed statistical significant improvement in NIBUT (p<0.001) and reduction in MG loss (p=0.001) post therapy. Conclusion: We noted Statistical significant improvement in Tear film parameters however the difference was not clinically significant. This could be attributed to the smaller sample size and short term nature of data.
