Abstract
Pregnancy is an overwhelming experience which induces many multiorgan changes, one of them being changes in retinal thickness which is more pronounced in patients with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM). This analytical cross-sectional study included 162 subjects of GDM ( gestational age >24 weeks) and 162 healthy pregnant females (control). We observed that mean peripapillary RNFL thickness showed a significant decrease in 3 (inferior, superior and temporal) quadrants (p<0.001) in GDM group compared to control. The mean macular, GCL+ and GCL ++ thickness also followed the same trend. Our study suggests that OCT parameters can prove to be an indispensable tool to recognise early changes of gestational diabetic retinopathy
