Abstract
AIM: To check the results of retrobulbar amphotericin B in ocular manifestation of post COVID-19 Sino-orbital mucormycosis.
FINDINGS: 5 cases of post COVID-19 Sino-orbital mucormycosis with different onsets, progressions and outcomes was treated with retrobulbar injections of amphotericin B deoxycholate in conjunction with intravenous amphotericin B and endoscopic sinus debridement. Progression of orbital infection was halted and sight restored with eventual hospital discharge.
CONCLUSION: The retrobulbar amphotericin B intervention is also a viable therapeutic option in cases of post COVID-19 sino-orbital mucormycosis where aggressive orbital debridement isn’t favored. It aids in controlling the extent and severity of the disease.
