Abstract
Purpose & Method: Non randomized comparative study of 80eyes with senile cataract with Bilateral Premium Trifocal Toric(Gr1) & Economic Trifocal Toric IOLs(Gr2)
Binocular Results: 3mths postop Photopic UDVA& BCDVA and Mesopic BCDVA(p>.05),Photopic UIVA80cm (p=.22)& 60cm (p=.06), DCNVA 40cm (p=.182)comparable. Mean diff Binocular CS Photopic WG at 5CPD(-.02,p=.87),10CPD(-.01,p=.94)& 15CPD(-.05,p=.59) comparable. Mean diff Meso CS WG at 5CPD(-.013,p=.84)& 10CPD(-.087,p=.06) and WoG at 5CPD(-.006,p=.27)& 10CPD(-.0059,p=.76) all were comparable Residual Spherical Equivalent mean diff=-0.406,p=0.395, & Residual Astigmatism mean diff -.085,p=.67, IOL Rotation mean diff=-0.77,p=0.081 comparable in 2 Grs. Reading Speed, Dysphotopsia(QUVID Questionnaire) comparable,Direct Cost Gr2 substantially low.
Conclusion: Economic models for trifocal toric IOL provide comparable clinical effectiveness& much cheaper solution to middle class Indian population needing Spectacle free vision at all distances.
