Abstract
Purpose: To report a case of bilateral Duane’s retraction syndrome type 3 in exophoric stage and possible other syndrome.
Method: A 6-year-old female with bilateral congenital deafness presented with occasional outward deviation of LE and abnormal head posture.Child had mid-facial hypoplasia and microtia with left ear preauricular tag. On examination (BE) BCVA 20/20, normal anterior and posterior segment, Hirschberg corneal reflex test central with (BE) abduction and minimal adduction limitation with upshoot on adduction. Versions revealed palpebral fissure narrowing in adducted eye and widening in abducted eye. On Alternate cover test (BE) moves in to take fixation.
Result: Genetic analysis had no significant outcome. MRI cochlea showed bilateral dilatation of cochlea, ampulla, superior and lateral semicircular canals. Other investigations had no specifications.
Conclusion: Parents were reassured regarding child’s binocular single vision and advised periodic follow up.
