Abstract
A 65 year old female came for routine checkup 2 years back.She had no history of any ocular trauma,surgery,systemic illness.Her BCVA in right eye-6/18 and left eye-6/6.
Left eye revealed 2x1mm sized well circumscribed pigmented elevation on anterior surface of iris at 6 o’clock periphery,rest findings were normal in both eyes(BE).IOP in BE-14mmHg.On gonioscopy BE-angles were open and pigmented lesion was seen inferior quadrant in left eye.Patient had been advised for 6 monthly follow up.On her last follow up the lesion was same size,IOP was normal.
An iris cyst is an epithelial lined space and it is rare.Primary iris cysts have no recognizable etiology and are originated from posterior pigment epithelium of iris, predominantly found in Caucasian and female.Primary iris cysts are usually stable and asymptomatic require no treatment but should be followed up regularly as it can lead to angle closure glaucoma,plateau iris syndrome,pigment dispersion syndrome,malignant transformation
