Abstract
We are reporting a case of intraocular lens (IOL) material degeneration over a period of 7 years, presenting with white punctate opacities on the anterior surface of lens leading to visual disability.
A 50 years male underwent small incision cataract surgery in left eye, 7 years back. There was history of laser capsulotomy in left eye, 2 months after surgery. He was symptom free for few months following which he developed diminution of vision in his left eye which was gradually progressive, painless and associated with glare. Best corrected visual acuity of left eye at presentation was 6/18. On ocular examination, left eye was pseudophakic with intraocular lens degeneration with multiple pits on anterior surface of optic of lens. Lens material could not be made out. Anterior segment and posterior segment examination were found to be normal. He was advised an IOL exchange which he refused. So he was prescribed spectacles for the refractive correction.
