Abstract
PurposeTo understand longterm surgical results of Sensory Strabismus(SS),especially recurrence and understand factors like type, angle of squint, visual acuity(VA); compare immediate/longterm outcomes(lastfollowup of>6 months)after surgery
Method:7yrs Retrospective study of Patients with SS who underwent surgery
Results:66patients(6-39 yrs),51 had followup of ≥6 months.43(84.31%)on 1stpost op day(POD),37(72.55%)on 6thweek,34(66.67%)onlast followup had good outcome.Patients with BCVA 6/18to6/60(n=21),80.95% had good outcome on 1stPOD,76.19% on last followup(4.76% deteriorated).Patients with BCVA<6/60 -noPL(n=30),86.67% had good outcome on 1stPOD,63.33% on last followup(23.34% deteriorated).Pvalue significant for angle ofstrabismus on POD-1 to final followup,in patients with BCVA <3/60 to PL.Shorterm success rate is better than longterm outcomes in SS surgery. This is 1st such Indian study.VA at time of surgery is crucial.Reconstructive surgery can be advised withcounselling for23%recurence
