Results: Out of 670 pediatric patients screened,87 were seen to have congenital anomalies during the study period. Male: female ratio was 1:1.4.The maximum number of patients were in the age group of 0-2 years. The common congenital defects identified were cataract 24%, glaucoma 8.7 %, congenital dacryocystitis 17%, microphthalmos 15%, corneal opacity 5.2 %, ptosis 5%.Other less common congenital defects include: anophthalmos, coloboma (lid, iris and choroid) and aniridia. Conclusion: Most common anomaly was Congenital cataract 24% followed by congenital dacryocystitis and microphthalmos. Awarness should be created about these anomalies and visual prognosis among parents and relatives. With proper intervention at appropriate time we can forestall childhood blindness.
