Abstract
Purpose: To describe the management of complex ocular misalignments following orbital trauma.
Methods: A total of 8 patients with ocular trauma were included. Nature of trauma, clinical findings and radiological features were correlated in a constructive manner. Based on this, a detailed surgical plan was undertaken.
Results: Three inferior rectus, two medial rectus, two superior oblique and one lateral rectus muscle injuries were managed optimally. Inferior rectus muscle injuries often required more than one surgery, and overall, the outcome in these eyes was often guarded due to traumatic dis-organization of orbital anatomy.
Conclusions: A customized and comprehensive clinical and radiological assessment was essential in managing post traumatic ocular misalignment cases.
