Abstract
AIM:To analyze and emphasize the effectiveness of vision centre in providing timely and quality eye care to unreached and prompt referral to base hospital for expertized management
METHOD : All patients who presented to vision centre from August 2018 to July 2019 were included and analyzed retrospectively. Patients who were referred from vision centre to base hospital were followed up
RESULT : Out of 8217 patients , 1832(22.29%) had refractive error,268(3.26%) had cataract, 230(2.79%) had corneal pathology,154(1.87%) had retinal pathology,100(1.21%) had glaucoma, 85(1.034%) had orbital problem,42(0.51%) had uveitis,38(0.46%) were referred to pediatric ophthalmology . 24 (0.29 %) had neurological problem.Overall,325 were referred to base hospital of which , 212 were treated .
CONCLUSION : It signifies the importance of vision centre in giving quality eye care to unreached. If there is no vision centre, many ocular diseases in people would have remained undiagnosed leading to blindness.
