Abstract
Hematological malignancies are associated with variable clinical manifestations, ocular manifestation being one of them. Moreover, ocular involvement may arise during the course of the disease, side effects of treatment or as a relapse after remission. This study evaluates the spectrum of ocular involvement in blood malignancies presenting to a tertiary care centre in India. This is a cross-sectional study that included 50 diagnosed cases of blood malignancies in the last 1 year. Patients with diabetes, hypertension or dense cataract were excluded from the study. Leukemia accounted for a maximum of 39(78%) cases. Ocular involvement is present in 28(56%) cases with a maximum in AML cases (39.2%). Anterior segment involvements were present in 21.4 % and posterior segment in 85.7%. Vision-threatening complications were seen in 32.1% of cases with an average hemoglobin of 6.5 mg/dl. Ocular findings can help in the early diagnosis of the hematological malignancy, its relapse and prognosis.
