Abstract
We report a case of police personnel who sustained an injury to the right eye with the stone in a road traffic accident(RTA) as he was not wearing protective gear.
On examination, visual acuity in the right eye was perception of light, and the left eye was 6/6. On slit-lamp examination, there was globe perforation with vitreous loss and uveal tissue prolapse. Emergency surgery of globe exploration with primary suturing under general anesthesia was done. The patient had a vision of hand movement post-operatively.
Hence, timely examination and surgical intervention is very important in any RTA. It is also important to get awareness in the general population about the use of proper protective equipment while driving motor vehicles.
