Abstract
AIM: To compare the efficacy, safety, tolerability of nepafenac 0.1%,bromofenac 0.09% for prevention of cystoid macular edema(CME) after cataract surgery.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: A comparative observational study was done in post cataract surgery patients. They received either topical bromofenac or nepafenac along with the routine medications used post cataract surgery. We measured CME using foveal thickness, macular thickness and total macular volume on optical coherence tomography(OCT)
RESULTS: Study was conducted at Upgraded department of ophthalmology,Lala Lajpat Rai memorial medical college and hospital,Meerut. We enrolled 306 patients from January to July 2021.50% received bromofenac,50% received nepafenac. Foveal volume was compared postoperatively at 3 weeks and 2 months. 235 patients took the post surgery satisfaction questionnaire where patients using bromofenac were most satisfied
CONCLUSION: Bromofenac is best tolerated and most effective in reducing CME after cataract surgery
