Abstract
OBJECTIVE: To compare 10-2 visual field (VF) test with 24-2 VF test for detecting visual field defects in the central 10° visual field in patients with early glaucoma.
METHOD: In this prospective study, 27 eyes of 18 patients with early glaucomatous damage underwent 24-2 and 10-2 VF tests. The central 10° on 24-2 and 10-2 VF test were compared to see if 10-2 was better in diagnosing VF defects within central 10° in patients with early glaucoma.
RESULT: Out of 27 eyes, 24-2 test was able to detect changes in central 10° in 12 eyes (44.44%), while 10-2 test detected these changes in 21 eyes (77.77%), which is statistically significant (p<0.012) (chi-square test). CONCLUSION: The 10-2 test is able to detect VF defects missed by 24-2 test in early glaucoma and thus is beneficial in addition to 24-2 test for detection of defects in central 10° visual field.
