Abstract

Aim: To describe a rare case of corneal perforation following injury with Glass Perchlet.

Materials and methods: A 26-year-old man presented to the emergency department with history of pain and blurring of vision following injury to the left eye due to the impact of fish jumping out of water while he was fishing. Examination revealed best corrected visual acuity of 6/9, eyelid oedema and blepharospasm. Slit lamp examination revealed circumcorneal congestion, full thickness corneal laceration measuring 3mm, located 3mm away from inferior limbus confirmed by positive siedel’s test and a partial thickness corneal laceration approximately 1.5mm located 2mm away from inferior limbus. Rest of the anterior segment was unremarkable.

Results: Patient was managed conservatively by application of cyanoacrylate glue and bandage contact lens.

Conclusion: This is the first case report of corneal perforation following injury with Glass Perchlet.
