Abstract
Purpose : Real world comparative study of intravitreal inj Ranibizumab with Aflibercept on subretinal hyperreflective material morphology and it’s correlation with visual acuity.
Materials and methods : 2 year long follow up data of 70 patients in each group ( Group 1- Aflibercept, Group 2- Ranibizumab) were studied. Each group has followed the PRN regimen protocol.
Results: Mean age in each group were almost 73 years. M:F ratio in group 1 is 72.9% and group 2 is 76.7%.The mean no of injections in group 1 was 6.3+-1.9 and in group 2 was 9.8+-2.7.The mean improvement in vision was significantly better in group 1 at 24 month’s post intervention. The mean reduction in central foveal thickness along with SHRM morphology in terms of area and height was significantly better in group 1 than group 2.
Conclusion: Both Aflibercept and Ranibizumab are effective for CNVM with SHRM, But in terms of long term visual acuity and number of injections Aflibercept scores over Ranibizumab at 24 month’s.
