Abstract
ROCM witnessed a remarkable surge in 2nd wave of COVID-19.A record-based study was conducted comprising 30 patients from 1st Feb to 31st July 2021 to determine common predisposing factors and chief complaints for formulation of effective preventive measures.History and examination was supplemented with histopathological and radiological investigations.Preponderance for elderly was seen with 46.6% in 50-75 age group.Primary comorbidity was diabetes(86.67%).Duration since COVID infection emerged as a significant factor; 70% cases had duration >28 days.Primary complaint was facial edema (80%).Prevailing predisposing factors included corticosteroids(86.67%) and oxygen use(76.67%). 76.67% required endoscopic debridement, 2 required exenteration with 4 mortalities. Thus, high index of suspicion is required in elderly, diabetics and those receiving steroids or oxygen during COVID.Attention to warning signs, early diagnosis and apt treatment may optimize outcome of ROCM in setting of COVID-19.
