Abstract
Purpose-To analyse neovascularisation(NV) in post-pyrexial retinitis(PPR) and role of intravitreal anti vascular endothelial growth factors(anti-VEGF)Methods-Retrospective analysis of 10 cases of PPR. FFA and OCT was done. NV at the disc and supertemporal to macula noticed in 3 casesResult-18 eyes with mean presentation at 4 weeks post-fever. NV seen in 4 eyes(3 cases). Other findings were extensive haemorrhages, retinitis and macular edema. On FFA, perivascular and disc leakage without significant capillary non perfusion indicating inflammation induced NV. All 3 cases were treated with intravitreal anti-VEGF and oral steroids. Case1,2 showed regression of NV whereas case3 underwent vitrectomy for epiretinal membraneConclusion-In PPR, NV can be either early or late presentation in relation to duration and severity of inflammation. Intravitreal antiVEGF suppresses leukocyte chemotaxis and adhesion signalling forth suppressing inflammation and hence has a role in inflammation induced NV
