Abstract
The most common predisposing factors of CSCR include type A personality and stress, corticosteroid use , pregnancy, obstructive sleep apnea, hypertension, Helicobacter pylori infection and others. One of the major health related issues due to the COVID-19 impact was on the mental health. Post Traumatic Stress Symptoms were present among 96.2% patients who were hospitalised but were clinically stable. There was a significant increase in the anxiety levels in patients who had COVID-19 than those of the general public ( prevalence 35.1%). We found the prevalence of CSCR in a district hospital to be 0.69% which increased to 3.8% during the months of April- September in 2020. The prevalence of CSCR among patients who were treated in the same hospital for COVID was 17%. This increase in prevalence is an indicator that steroids and mental health issues are predisposing to CSCR in COVID in COVID times and hospitalised patients with COVID should be examined for the same.
