Abstract
AIM: To study the use of intravitreal air to prevent post-op hypotony in pars plana vitrectomy with SFIOL
METHODS:
It is Prospective interventional case study of 5 cases requiring pars plana vitrectomy and scleral fixated intraocular lens (SFIOL). The SFIOL was done using the VRS technique. A sclerocorneal tunnel is made superiorly. Scleral pockets are made nasally and temporally with 1.5 mm keratome. Pars plana vitrectomy is done through ports placed 1.5 mm from the nasal and temporal limbus and in supero temporal quadrant. SFIOL is inserted through the main port and the haptics exteriorized through the side ports and tucked into scleral pockets. Our study analyzed the use of intravitreal air (1 cc) to prevent post operative hypotony.
OUTCOMES:
There is no post operative hypotony or decentration of IOL.
CONCLUSION:
This helps in preventing post operative hypotony in pars plana vitrectomy with SFIOL even in previously vitrectomised eyes, paediatric age group and high myopes.
