Abstract

In pre-phakic implant workup,horizontal white to white(w-w) is most important measurement for determining phakic implant diameter.Orbscan was considered as most accurate tool for the same.But because of limited availability,manual measurement with calipers is most commonly used.Manual measurement can be cumbersome and patients may not cooperate properly.This study was conducted to compare the agreement of w-w measurement of 4 instruments -Aladdin optical biometer, pentacam, varion and iol master 700 with manual values.

Post informed consent for the study,healthy volunteers were evaluated with Aladdin optical biometer,Pentacam, Varion and Iol master 700.They were also measured manually for horizontal w-w.The values of these various devices were compared to the manual result.

The study seeks to find out which device measurement comes closest to manual measurement of w-w.This may help reduce dependence on manual measurement and ease the workup flow of patient desiring phakic implants.
