Abstract
We have described 3 cases that presented with tick infestation of the eyelid.
Case 1- a 24-year female coming to us with complaints of a black mass over right upper lid with itching and redness for 3 days and on examination, a tick was attached to right upper lid.
CASE 2- a 12-year girl presented to us with complaints of a small mass over right lower lid with redness for 2 days and on examination, a tick was attached to right lower lid.
Case 3- a 31-year female coming to us with complaints of redness and edema of right lower lid for 2 days and on examination, a tick was attached to the right lower lid.
Complete mechanical removal of ticks located on the eyelid of all three cases under slit lamp and sent for microbiological examination which revealed hard tick of genus Ixodes. All patients were given antibiotic prophylaxis. Safe, early and complete in toto removal of tick is of utmost priority to prevent further transmission of pathogens, allergens, and toxins to patients.
