Abstract
Aim- To study the tolerance profile and document changes in corneal vascularity and corneal clarity in patients nonresponsive to topical steroids using 0.05% Bevacizumab (Avastin) eye drops.
Material and methods- Pilot study of 10 cases with corneal vascularisation . Complete ocular examination and documentation of etiology and extent of corneal vascularisation was done before starting study. Those patients who did not improve with topical steroids were included in the study.Topical 0.05% Bevacizumab eye drops were prepared under aseptic conditions, utilising the left over solution used by our retina specialist for intravitreal injections. Patients were instructed to store the sterile in a refreigerator and use it twice a day. They were followed up every 15 days for 2 months. Tolerance to drug and any change in corneal clarity, thickness and vascularisation were documented.
Observations and discussion- Considerable improvement was seen in 8/10 cases. Early results are encouraging.
