Abstract
Deformation amplitude (DA) is a measure of corneal biomechanics provided by the CorvisST. It is the distance moved by the corneal apex following a fixed air impulse The purpose of this study was to identify factors affecting a change in DA in eyes with glaucoma. In this prospective, cohort study, 54 glaucomatous eyes underwent a complete eye examination including CorvisST at baseline. They then underwent some change in their glaucoma treatment, that is, intraocular pressure (IOP)-lowering drops were either started or added. Patients were reviewed 4-8 weeks later when CorvisST and applanation tonometry were repeated. Factors affecting the change in DA between visits were analyzed using multivariate analysis. The only factor significantly associated with change in DA was the change in IOP (-0.018 ±0.001, p<0.001). IOP reduction is association with an increase in DA. Therefore, when using CorvisST to evaluate corneal biomechanics in glaucoma, the IOP must be adjusted for in the analysis.
