Abstract
Purpose: Clinical presentation, management, outcome of orbital metastasis from primary breast carcinoma
Methods: Retrospective interventional case series
Results: Four patients with orbital metastasis secondary to breast carcinoma were analysed. All of them had metastatic carcinoma (ER, PR Positive, Her2neu negative). One each had nodal, skeletal, nodal + skeletal and pulmonary + nodal + skeletal metastasis. The mean duration to develop orbital metastasis was 6 3.6 (range 2-10) y. The mean age at diagnosis was 56 (range 34-67) y. One had bilateral orbital involvement. Clinical presentations included diminution of vision, enophthalmos, eyelid mass, diplopia. All were treated with external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) 24-45cGy for orbital metastasis. At a mean follow-up of 13.3 (range 4-31) m, there was local tumor control in all and 100% survival.
Conclusion:
Orbital metastasis from breast carcinoma can have varied manifestations. Orbital EBRT provides good local tumor control.
