Abstract
Purpose: Clinical features and outcomes in lacrimal gland lymphoma (LGL)
Methods: Retrospective interventional case series
Results: Of 31 patients, 5 (16%) were bilateral. Mean age-52 (range 25-75) y. Proptosis was commonly seen in 18 (50%). Mean duration of symptoms was 267.5 (range 3-1800) d. Incisional biopsy was done in 20 eyes (55%),complete excision in 11 (30%). All had non-Hodgkins lymphoma; extranodal marginal zone lymphoma-36%, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma-27%, follicular lymphoma-18%, small lymphocytic lymphoma-18%. Postoperatively, 19 (61%) received stereotactic radiotherapy, 6 (19%) got chemotherapy, 5 (16%) got both, and one, intralesional rituximab. At 13.4 (range 1-22) y mean follow-up, local tumor control was achieved in all, all with isolated LGL were alive, while of 5 (16%) with systemic lymphoma, 4 (80%) died.
Conclusion: Appropriate management of LGL can provide excellent local tumor and systemic control, specifically if there is no associated systemic lymphoma.
