Abstract

PurposeThisstudywastakenupatthiscentretoanalyze,clinicopathological profile,managementandoutcomesin recurrentcasesofOSSN.Methodology-Aprospectivecohortstudywasconductedand total18caseswererecruited.Atreatmentplanwasformulatedbasedonthesizeandextentofthelesion.Primaryoutcomemeasureswereresolution/regressionoftumor,recurrenceofthelesionandincidence of complication associated with each treatment modality.Results-The commoncauseofrecurrenceinourstudywasmisdiagnosisof thelesionasin15 casesitwasdiagnosedaspterygiumandin03casesitwasactinickeratosis.ExcisionBiopsywithadjunctivecryotherapywasthepreferredtreatmentmodalityfollowedbytopicalinterferon@2bdropinourstudy.Thecomplicationassociatedwiththistreatmentwasminimalinourstudyasfewpatientsdeveloprednessandirritationwhichgotsubsidedafterapplicationoftopicallubricants.ConclusionRecurrencecanbemitigatedinallcasesofOSSNiftheyarediagnosedontimewithinstitutionofappropriatetreatment modality.
