Abstract
Prospective study on 127 patients diagnosed with macular edema due to retinal vein occlusion. Patients were treated with first dose of bevacizumab. Outcomes were measured as improvement in BCVA and changes in OCT. There was significant improvement in BCVA in LogMAR from 0.57 to 0.4. Significant reduction in CRT from 609.9 µm to 337.6 µm. Significant reduction in OCT parameters like cystoid spaces, hyperreflective spots and subfoveal choroidal thickness(p<0.001). Significant correlation between reduction in CRT and improvement in BCVA. Decrease in macular edema was significantly greater with higher HDL levels (p=0.03), lesser duration of hypertension (p=0.03) and lesser eosinophil count. Significant difference between baseline CRT between CRVO and BRVO. PPBS and neutrophil levels were significantly higher in CRVO than BRVO whereas lymphocyte levels were higher in BRVO. Systemic factors were found to affect the treatment response which will help determine the prognosis.
