Abstract
A 20-year-old male with a history of gradual painless diminution of vision in OS for 1 month (BCVA 20/50p) was noted to have multiple light bulb retinal vascular aneurysms with surrounding exudation at and beyond equator along with full thickness macular hole (FTMH) and cystoid macular edema as confirmed on OCT. A diagnosis of adult-onset coats retinopathy with FTMH was made and 2-doses of intravitreal Bevacizumab at 1 month interval was administered with subsequent focal laser to the leaky microaneurysms. At 2 months follow up, an improvement of BCVA to 20/20 along with complete closure of macular hole and cystoid macular edema was noted which remained stable till 6 months final follow up.
The occurrence of FTMH in Coats’ disease is extremely rare, nevertheless they show an excellent visual and anatomic recovery following pars plana vitrectomy (PPV). This case highlights spontaneous closure of the FTMH following anti-VEGF alone.
